When you upload a tour to a sat-nav is there anyway of having the poi not function as a tour with directions, etc but still get the audio to play at certain points along a given route?

Let me give you an example - say you wanted to use your sat-nav to get you from A to Z so you ask it to give you those directions.

However, it might be that you wanted to say several things along that point about B, C, D, E, etc. but not have that distract the sat-nav from giving someone the directions from A to Z.

How could you do that?

What you describe is nearly exactly what the Garmin TourGuide format offers.  When you download a tour, the locations show up in a list on your device.  You can choose to be routed to any one of the locations.  Furthermore, if you set the TourGuide settings to 'AutoPlay', all locations will play automatically when you pass them.  Thus, in your example, you choose to be routed to location Z and all intermediate locations will play automatically when you pass them along the way.

The TourGuide format is compatible with most Garmin units.  More information about the Garmin TourGuide format - here .
Hope that helps.

I'm a new Garmin Nuvi user and have created a "tour" through my city, which is really a list of 36 speed cameras located at intersections.  I'd really like the Garmin to let me know that a "camera" intersection is coming up, no matter from what direction I'm approaching it.  Is this possible?

Sure, all you have to do is create a tour on our site comprised of the 36 camera locations. You can then either upload an MP3 file which you want to play when you're approaching each camera or by not uploading an MP3 file, a default alert 'beep' will play when you approach any camera.

When creating the tour and tour locations on our site, be sure to set the proximity distance to your desired distance. The default is 500 ft, which means you will be notified whenever you are 500 ft or less from a camera.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

Thanks, Scott
